Although this is an old thread, it was the first that came up when I was searching for a solution. So I thought I would sign up to post how I resolved this same issue. Nothing in this thread helped me.

In the end, I changed the port the DVD drive was plugged into. Restarted the computer and it went through the found new hardware process upon boot up and bang.
